Editorial Standards

The Gnostic Key is committed to accuracy, transparency, and editorial independence. This document sets out the principles that govern all investigative, analytical, and archival content published on the platform.

Last updated: 20 March 2026

1. Accuracy and Primary Sources

All factual claims in The Gnostic Key investigative and analytical content are grounded in primary source material wherever possible. Primary sources include official documents, public records, verified testimony, court filings, published statistics, and original institutional communications.

Secondary sources are used only where primary sources are unavailable or where they serve to contextualise primary material. Secondary sourcing is always indicated. Speculation is clearly labelled as such and never presented as established fact.

2. Separation of Reporting and Analysis

The Gnostic Key maintains a clear distinction between factual reporting and editorial analysis. Where content represents the opinion or interpretation of the author, this is made explicit through framing, labelling, or contextual signposting. Readers are never left to infer whether they are reading fact or analysis.

3. Editorial Independence

The Gnostic Key accepts no advertising, sponsored content, or external funding that carries editorial conditions. The platform is funded entirely through reader membership. No editorial decision is subject to influence by funders, advertisers, commercial partners, or any political or institutional body.

All editorial decisions are made solely by The Gnostic Key editorial team, currently led by its founder, The Keymaker.

4. Source Protection

The Gnostic Key is committed to protecting the identities of confidential sources. Information provided in confidence will not be disclosed to any third party without the explicit consent of the source, except where required by law. Sources are advised of the limits of this protection before providing information.

5. Fairness and the Right of Response

Where investigative content makes specific factual allegations about named individuals or organisations, The Gnostic Key will make reasonable efforts to seek a response from those named prior to publication. Where no response is received within a reasonable timeframe, or where a response is declined, this will be noted within the published content.

6. Corrections Policy

The Gnostic Key is committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. Where a factual error is identified in published content, the following process applies:

  • Significant factual errors will be corrected in the body of the affected content, with a correction notice appended indicating what was changed and when.
  • Minor typographical or formatting errors may be corrected silently.
  • Corrections will not be used to alter the substantive meaning, framing, or editorial position of a piece without a corresponding notice.
  • Nothing is deleted without explanation. Where content is removed or substantially revised, a record of the change will be noted on the page.

7. Complaints

Readers who believe that The Gnostic Key has published inaccurate, unfair, or misleading content are invited to submit a written complaint to: contact@thegnostickey.com.

Complaints should identify the specific content in question, the nature of the concern, and where possible the evidence on which the concern is based. All complaints will be reviewed and responded to in good faith within a reasonable timeframe.

8. Living Document

These standards will be reviewed and updated as the platform grows and as journalism practice evolves. The date of the most recent revision will always appear on this page.
