The Steel Man Method

A dedicated practice space for the Steel Man Method within the TGK Community. This thread exists to train intellectual honesty, not to reward rhetoric or point-scoring. Participants are expected to accurately summarise the strongest possible version of an opposing position before challenging it. The aim is understanding before disagreement, clarity before critique, and discipline over impulse. Posts that misrepresent, caricature, or bypass the Steel Man requirement will be challenged, corrected, or rejected by design.

How to Participate
  • Choose your reply type: Reply or Challenge Reply.
  • Challenge Reply requires a Steel Man summary (6 to 60 words, 30 to 600 characters).
  • Steel Man flow: Summarise their strongest case → post your challenge → the original poster can accept or reject your Steel Man.
  • Engage ideas, not individuals.
  • If meaning is unclear, ask for clarification before posting a challenge.
  • Protect clarity and intellectual honesty.
