Moderation Philosophy
Moderation within the TGK Community is principled and minimal. It exists to preserve the quality of dialogue and protect participants from degradation, not to suppress disagreement or enforce ideological conformity.
What Moderation Does
- Prevents harassment or humiliation.
- Ensures replies include an appropriate Steel Man summary.
- Removes incoherent, malicious, or unserious contributions.
- Protects users from impersonation or targeted hostility.
- Upholds the Charter and Participation Guide in spirit and practice.
What Moderation Does Not Do
- Suppress reasonable disagreement.
- Enforce political or ideological alignment.
- Intervene in disputes outside TGK spaces.
- Censor criticism expressed in good faith.
Moderation Ethos
Moderators serve as custodians rather than authorities. Their purpose is to maintain a space where serious thought can develop, where ideas are treated with rigour, and where users feel free to explore difficult questions without fear of ridicule.
