TGK Community is a structured discussion space for people who want to think clearly, disagree honestly, and sharpen arguments together. You do not need to master every policy before joining in. Begin in good faith, write clearly, and be willing to correct a mistake.
Replies and Challenges
An ordinary Reply continues the conversation. Use it to ask a question, add context, agree, clarify, or develop a related point. A formal Challenge directly contests another member's argument.
- Choose Reply for ordinary discussion.
- Choose Challenge when you intend to rebut a particular argument.
- A Challenge must begin with a Steel Man summary of the position you are addressing.
- A Reply does not require a Steel Man.
The Steel Man Rule
Before challenging a person, state the strongest reasonable version of what they mean. Fair representation does not require agreement. It shows that you understood the point before arguing against it. The Steelman Handbook explains what a valid summary contains and how rejection works.
Reading, Posting and Reporting
Community discussions are publicly readable. Members can create threads, reply, vote, and use the reporting tool on a contribution. Use Report when content may breach the universal safety rules or the standards of its room. Explain the concern plainly and add relevant context where you can.
The full participation rules are in the Participation Guide. Safety standards and room-specific expectations are in the Room Rules.
Choose the Right Room
- Standard discussion rooms: use these for discussion around published TGK work.
- Open Threads: use these for current events, philosophy, media criticism, and questions beyond the published catalogue.
- Investigate with Zoë: use this for leads, anomalies, documents, and things that do not add up.
Correction Before Punishment
TGK normally seeks to correct before it punishes. A moderator may offer guidance, ask for clarification, redirect a contribution, or issue a warning before stronger action is needed. The aim is not humiliation. It is to protect the quality and safety of the room.
Serious safety breaches may require immediate restriction, suspension, content removal, or permanent removal. TGK does not promise a warning first when people or the community may be at risk.
